Well maybe it can't really be called missing. There was never one to begin with. None the less, it is still a odd plumbing problem. But is it no way out of the realm of a homer owner to be able to fix it.
What is pictured is a three-inch clay-tile sewer line, which in itself is odd, because clay tile is rarely run into the home. The concrete is butted up to the bell of the pipe. Inside were three wax gaskets stacked on top of each other.
Over time the wax gaskets compressed and warped, causing the toilet to leak. This is not unusual. The real problem occurred when one of the bolts to hold the toilet down was snapped off. They were cemented into the floor and left little room of play for re-setting of the toilet. What follows is the solution to fixing the problem.
