Don't Pour Money Down The Drain

Do those commercials for drain cleaner make you think about that slow drain you keep meaning to fix?

While watching television this weekend a friend asked me whether, in my professional opinion, those chemical drain cleaners were worth the money. I've had customers ask me the same question many times.

Even after setting my personal preference for snaking a drain rather thank chemical cleaning aside, I usually don't recommend buying a cleaner. Using a combination of baking soda and vinegar as a homemade drain cleaner can effectively clean drains and save you money.

Use baking soda and vinegar as part of a regular drain cleaning maintenance cycle to keep all of your drains clear, but don't forget to physically remove debris from drains also.

Completely agree with your comments – regular maintenance with a safe, organic solution like baking soda and vinegar is far better than harsh chemicals – especially here in Sydney, plumbing runs straight into our beautiful harbour!

I also prefer snaking a drain to get rid of the physical obstructions eg tree roots.

Great to find someone online you agree with eh?”=

At last I have found someone with the same opinion as myself, I never advise my customers to purchase chemicals to clear the drains, not only do they hardly ever work, they also harm the environment..
