Most plumbing repairs start by shutting off the water. The first place to turn off the water is at the fixture, but if for some reason this doesn't work there are other options.
- You can shut off the main water supply line to the house. This turns off the water to the house.
- You can go directly to the water meter and turn of the water there. Turning off the water meter ensures that there isn't anymore water being fed into the home's plumbing system.
Keep all of these of options in mind next time you start a plumbing project or repair. Regardless of where you turn off the water make sure to test it before you cut pipes or remove fixtures.
