Many of the homes I work in have toilets that shake and shimmy. Often, the homeowner doesn't even mention it because they have become so accustomed to it over time.
But did you know that it is not always necessary to pull and reset the toilet with a new wax ring and bolts? A quick fix, which I do for many of my customers, is shimming the toilet to stop the rocking.
As long as the toilet is not leaking around the base it is usually ok to do this. With a few toilet shims or wood shims and fresh caulking at the base you can make sure the toilet stays put.
